Prayer For Musicians

The following prayer is adapted with permission from the book. 100 PRAYERS FOR WRITERS by Bob Hostetler. When I first read this I immediately wanted to rewrite it for those involved in music during worship.

Tools*

Lord God, remind me today

that my primary tool is not the music,

Not the words that are written,

Not my voice, 

Not the instrument I play,

Not my stage presence,

Not my mind

Nor the notes I use...

But let me think, sing and play in such a way

that your Spirit's voice is my greatest resource,

my greatest instrument,

my guide,

In Jesus' name, amen.
